Gaming Daily: Guillermo Del Toro Speaks Out on SILENT HILLS Cancellation

It’s been another whirlwind of a week, but rejoice, because we’ve almost made it to the weekend. If you’re looking for something to play over the next few days, we highly suggest giving Transformers: Devastation a try. We loved it, and since it’s short, it would make for a great weekend game. Before that, however, we have a couple of news stories to run through. In today’s Gaming Daily: Guillermo Del Toro thinks Silent Hills cancellation makes no f**king sense, Bethesda released a live-action trailer for Fallout 4 and revealed that there will be custom Vita controls for the game, CD Projekt Red added another enemy to those who used a money exploit in The Witcher 3, and Nintendo released a new trailer for Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water.

Guillermo Del Toro says cancellation of Silent Hills makes no f**king sense.

For a game that’s been cancelled, it feels like we’ve been talking about Silent Hills a lot lately. After Hideo Kojima’s messy departure from the studio, our hearts were broken when Konami announced that the game–which Kojima-san had been working on with famed horror director Guillermo Del Toro–was cancelled. Del Toro has spoken out about the game several times, but recently revealed to horror site Bloody Disgusting, that the game’s cancellation made no f**king sense.

“We had a great experience and had great story sessions with hundreds upon hundreds of designs,” he said. “Some of the stuff that we were designing for Silent Hills I’ve seen in games that came after, like The Last of Us, which makes me think we were not wrong, we were going in the right direction, The thing with Kojima and Silent Hills is that I thought we would do a really remarkable game and really go for the jugular.”

“We were hoping to actually create some sort of panic with some of the devices we were talking about and it is really a shame that it’s not happening. When you ask about how things operate, that makes no f**king sense at all that that game is not happening. Makes no f**king sense at all.”

Bethesda releases new live action Fallout 4 Trailer.

We’ve been inundated with a ton of Fallout 4 videos lately, but to be perfectly honest, I don’t mind. The more Fallout 4, the merrier! Anyways, following in the wake of several other live action trailer releases, for games like Destiny: The Taken King, and Halo 5: Guardians, Bethesda joined the live-action fun and dropped a new trailer for their upcoming game–which is due out November 10. While not much happens in the video (above), it was great seeing a Lone Wanderer and his pup walking through the apocalyptic wasteland to the tune of Dion and the Belmonts’ song “The Wanderer.”

Fallout 4 to support Vita controls for Remote Play.

Speaking of Fallout 4, Bethesda also revealed via Twitter yesterday that Fallout 4 will be sporting Vita-specific controls when it’s being played in Remote Play. Anybody who’s relied on Remote Play when they were either in the other room, or away from home, knows how convenient the feature is. Sure, playing a game of Fallout 4’s scale is ideal on the big screen, but it’s nice that the developer decided to tailor the game to the handheld device.

In addition to announcing that the game would feature special controls, the developer also revealed that it was Josh Hamrick–who designed Destiny’s Remote Play-specific controls–who perfected them for Fallout 4.

We’re definitely excited about trying this out.

Nintendo releases gameplay trailer for Fatal Frame Wii U title.

Although I’m still a bit disappointed that I won’t be able to play Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water on my PS4, the game–which is due out next Thursday, October 22–is looking pretty good on the Wii U. While the graphics obviously aren’t the best, using the Wii U gamepad as the Camera Obscura looks like it is going to be a lot of fun. With the game’s launch just around the corner, Nintendo released a brand new trailer (which you can check out above). CD Projekt Red sends Taxman after players who used cow/money exploit in The Witcher 3.

Remember a few months ago when CD Projekt Red deployed the “Bovine Defense Force Initiative” to take care of players who were exploiting the game for some coin? Welp, they’ve decided to take it a step further, and do something even better than that in The Witcher 3’s first expansion, Hearts of Stone.

Apparently, if you’ve used any exploits during your adventures as Geralt of Rivia–specifically the ones that let you farm cow hides and sell pearls for gold–a new NPC referred to as the taxman will show up and demand that you pay up. The man even pulls out a ledger to nail you for the crimes. But don’t freak out, there is a chance that you’ll be able to get away without paying a single cent. If you’ve been a good little Witcher, The man will reward you with a special certificate.

It’s definitely refreshing to see the developer tackle the issue with a light hand and some creative humor–especially in an age where others take action right away, and take the fun out of it. (cough* Bungie cough*). Check out YouTube user WhatsMyGame’s video above to see it play out.
