In today’s Gaming Daily, find out why Batman: Arkham Knight received an M rating, check out what was edited out of the remastered version of DmC, and feast your eyes on the Halo: Masterchief Collection Xbox One Bundle.

Official ratings entry for Batman: Arkham Knight released by ESRB

After it was revealed that Rocksteady’s upcoming entry in the Arkham series received an M rating, a lot of people were left wondering, what could possibly have changed? When the developer appeared just as surprised as the rest of us, it raised a lot of eyebrows. Well, the ESRB has finally released its official ratings entry for the title, detailing just exactly why the game was bumped up from a T-Rating.

According to the content descriptors, Batman: Arkham Knight was rated M for blood, language, suggestive themes and violence. In addition to large bloodstains, brutal crime scenes, strip club advertisements and some choice swear words, it sounds like the majority of the rating seems to stem from a specific scene in which a person is being tortured by another character on a bloody operating table.

There are also scenes that allow players to ride around in a tank like vehicle with machine guns attached, and another in which a character tortures another with the wheels of a vehicle. The post also revealed that, “During the course of the game, players can shoot unarmed characters and a hostage”.

Brutal. We’re assuming most of these torture scenes are carried out by another playable character.

Ninja Theory edits out sexually suggestive scene from DmC Definitive Edition.

In other ratings-related news, the recent re-release of DmC has revealed that the developer Ninja Theory has altered some of the raunchier dialogue. The particular line in question is part of a conversation between villains Mundus and Lilith.

When Mundus talks about having absolute power, Lilith’s original reply was, “The world is at last your bitch, as am I. Nothing left but to grab it by the hair, bend it over and -“. This line has been downsized to read only, “The world is at last your bitch.”

On the change, Ninja Theory’s chief creative director Tameem Antoniades responded, “We did make an edit to the opening cut scene. It wasn’t a case of censorship as there are far more suggestive scenes in the game. We felt that scene in particular drags on a little bit for the opening sequence and frankly, we didn’t like the line. Those few seconds were irrelevant to the scene and is covered effectively in a later scene where Mundus is metaphorically shafting world leaders”.

I suppose its nice when developers can go back to a game that has already been released and make a few changes. They’ve also added a brand new cutscene that didn’t make it in the original cut.

Better late than never, I suppose.

As you’ll see in the image above, Microsoft has FContactINALLY announced the Halo: The Masterchief Collection Xbox One Bundle. After all the trouble the title has been having, I suppose the newest patch made the company comfortable enough with releasing the bundle.

The bundle itself comes with a 500GB Xbox One, a wireless controller, headset and the entire collection of Halo’s Master Chief focused games. That means you’ll get your hands on Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo 3, and Halo 4. In addition to the games, the collection also comes with Ridley Scott’s live-action series  Halo: Nightfall.

That’s it for today everybody. Keep Nerdist tabbed for all your upcoming gaming news, reviews, and features.
