Gaming Daily: EA Announces STAR WARS: GALAXY of HEROES

PAX Prime and the weekend may have officially ended, but fortunately, that means the deluge of fall and winter video games is fast approaching. With new games on the horizon, news is abundant these days, which consequently makes it a bit difficult to keep track of it all. Luckily for you, I’m here to round up some of today’s highlights. In today’s Gaming Daily, EA announced a new mobile game called Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, both Uncharted 4 and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided got official release dates and stellar collector’s editions, the small face-plate capable New Nintendo 3DS is finally coming West, and Deadpool is getting a re-release on the PS4 and Xbox One.

Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes announced by EA.

There’s an abundance of Star Wars-related projects releasing this holiday season, and we can’t complain. On top of DICE’s Star Wars: Battlefront, EA revealed today that a game called Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes would be coming to mobile devices.

According to the EA’s official Star Wars page, you’ll “collect characters from the original trilogy and prequel films, plus animated TV shows like Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels – and more,” over the course of the game. Each character you collect is equipped with their own powerful attacks and abilities.

The aim of the game will be to pair characters based on their abilities, thus creating the ultimate light or dark side team to aid you in your quest for galactic glory. Success relies on tactical decisions like which gear you equip your heroes with, which special leader abilities you unlock like Darth Sidious’ Force Lightning Chewbacca’s Wookiee Rage, and more.

While a specific release date has yet to be launched, it is slated to release this holiday season. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it launches prior to both The Force Awakens and Battlefront. By the looks of the game, I have a feeling it will have microtransactions in abundance.

New Nintendo 3DS ANIMAL CROSSING

Smaller New Nintendo 3DS finally coming west alongside Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer.

When Nintendo launched the New Nintendo 3DS, other countries around the world were blessed with the smaller version that allows you to swap faceplates, while the U.S. was left in the cold. Sure, we got the XL version, but those who were looking for more customization or a device that was better suited for small hands were left wondering whether we’d ever see the smaller version. Well, wonder no longer fellow little-handed folks, Nintendo announced today that the face-plate capable model will be launching on September 25.

Buyers will be able to snag a $220 dollar bundle at launch which includes the system, a copy of the upcoming Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, two cover plates, and an Amiibo card.

New 3ds Hyrule Edition

Having a penchant for announcing several new systems at once, Nintendo also revealed the Nintendo New 3DS XL Hyrule Gold Edition, which will be launching exclusively with Gamestop for $199.99 on October 30. As the XL indicates, this is the larger system that’s already out in the wild in the U.S. As you can see in the image above, it sports a gold color and the Hylian Crest. The system will be launching exactly one week after The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes hits the 3DS. Unlike the Animal Crossing bundle, the Hyrule Gold Edition will not come bundled with title it is associated with.

Release Date and collector’s edition revealed for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.

We never asked for this, but we can’t complain. Not to be left out of the release date fun today, Square Enix revealed that Deus Ex: Mankind Divided would be releasing on February 23, 2016. Like Sony, the publisher also unveiled a collector’s edition which contains a 9″ Adam Jensen figure, an art book, a limited edition steelbook, and more. They also announced a multi-tiered list of pre-order bonuses. The fifth and final tier of the “Augment Your Pre-order” tree grants players access to the title a whole 4 days before its official release. For more on what else is included, view the video above, or hop on over to our full post, which I’ve linked below.

Deadpool Game

Deadpool to get PS4 and Xbox One Release.

No, this isn’t a sequel to the 2013 Deadpool title, but rather an updated version of the one that originally appeared on the PS3 and Xbox 360. Activision took to the web today to announce that Deadpool would be launching on the Xbox One and PS4 November 17.

If you want the game, you’ll have to fork over $50, which isn’t too bad considering you’ll be getting an upgraded version of the title alongside the extra levels and alternate suits that came with the DLC.

With the 2016 Deadpool film starring Ryan Reynolds on the horizon, Activision and developer High Moon Studios couldn’t have found a better time to re-release the game. I never got a chance to play the title myself, but I’ve heard that if you are a fan of Deadpool’s antics, you’ll probably enjoy it.
