Gaming Daily: DRAGON AGE: INQUISITION, ASSASSIN’S CREED Review Roundups

You know what’s been very tough to do today? Breaking away from Halo: The Master Chief Collection– it’s made for a painful Tuesday. But we’ve pressed pause long enough to give you the latest on this 24 hours full of new release, and have a couple review roundups on the way for those looking to do a little investigating before making their next game purchase. To go along with that, we’ve got a couple of fresh game announcements that are something to celebrate about, especially if you love grappling hooks.

JustCause3

Avalanche Studios is back with Just Cause 3.

Just Cause 3 was revealed through a November feature in Game Informer, and the grappling hooks and wing suits are back in action. One of the most underrated open-world games of the last generation was Just Cause 2, so the news that Avalanche Studios has been hard at work on the next installment of the game hopefully will not fall on deaf ears. The game is set to release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC in 2015, and will be published once again by the good folks at Square Enix. Hopefully this means they’ll include a multiplayer mode similar to the PC mod that got very popular some years ago.

TowerFall

Towerfall Ascension gets a co-op expansion.

Towerfall Ascension should be a competitive sport. The amount of skill taking to be a true master of the game is similar to what is required of some of the highest paid athletes in the world. Alright, maybe that’s a stretching things a bit, but there’s no doubt that the game’s a lot of fun, and a favorite here at Nerdist HQ. The PS4 version of the game will receive an expansion in early 2015 called Dark World. The add-on will include new maps, characters, modes, and power ups. Looks like the king of bramble will be making a return.

DIA

Dragon Age: Inquisition bringing in the high marks.

Dragon Age: Inquisition is out next week, but the reviews are in now, and boy are things looking quite swell for the team at Bioware. I’ve been playing the game myself over the last week, and it definitely is safe to say that the game will be regarded as one of the best action-RPG titles of the year. Have a look at the numbers down below:

GamesRadar: 4/5
IGN: 8.8/10
Joystiq: 5/5
Polygon: 9.5/10
Eurogamer: 8/10

ACU

Assassin’s Creed review scores take a leap of faith.

On the other side of the road, is Assassin’s Creed: Unity, which is the series first official full fledged foray on next-gen consoles. The reviews weren’t as favorable as Dragon Age: Inquisition, with many folks complaining about the game being underdeveloped to a fault. I’ve experienced several glitches while playing the game, personally, but found the cooperative aspects of the game to be rather enjoyable. We’ll have more in-depth remarks on both this and Dragon Age: Inquisition in the near future, but until then, here’s a look at the scores for Unity:

Joystiq: 2.5/5
Polygon: 6.5/10
GamesRadar: 4/5
IGN: 7.8/10
Eurogamer: 7/10

That about wraps it for Tuesday’s Gaming Daily. Always keep it parked here on Nerdist for all of the juicy video game developments, and to chat about our beloved medium, I’m only one tweet away: @Malik4play.
