Gaming Daily: Bungie Raising Money For Nepal Tragedy, Comes With In-Game Loot

It’s been another fun-filled week of announcements, folks! Though we started off rough with the disappointing news of the Silent Hills cancellation, we ended with a colorful bang with the exciting reveal of Yooka-Laylee and the Banjo-Kazooie spiritual successor developed by Playtonic Games. The good times however, don’t stop there. In today’s Gaming Daily: Bungie is raising money for Nepal, The Last of Us: Left Behind is getting a standalone release, and free DLC is coming to Dragon Age: Inquisition next week.

BUNGIE T SHIRT FOR NEPALAll profits for Bungie’s Nepal Earthquake relief shirt is going to charity.

Listen up, guardians. As you’re probably already aware, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake wreaked havoc in Nepal on April 25. To help raise money for relief efforts, Bungie has decided to put a limited edition Nepal Aid t-shirt up in their online merchandise store. The best part about snagging this cool shirt is that all of the profits from the $24.99 purchase will be donated to charities involved in providing aid to those devastated by the massive quake.

The shirt will be available for purchase from now until May 24, and comes in men’s, women’s, and youth sizes. Also, the developer has announced, that those who purchase the shirt will also be sent a redemption code for an in-game shader and emblem. While the shirts are set to ship in early June, the codes won’t be sent out until later this year after a game update.

Bungie isn’t the only one lending a helping hand to Nepal. Ubisoft Montreal has also pledged a massive $100,000 to aid relief efforts. In case you weren’t already aware, Far Cry 4 was heavily inspired by the affected area. After spending a couple of years working on the title, the company decided to help raise money for the Canadian Red Cross. They promised to match donations up to the first $100,000. As of right now, the company’s charity page has raised a whopping $44,780.25.

The Last of Us: Left Behind is getting a standalone release

If you’ve been wanting to get your hands on The Last of Us: Left Behind, but didn’t have access to it because you didn’t own the full title, now’s your chance. Sony and Naughty Dog announced earlier today that one of the best DLC releases from 2014 will be available, as a standalone download starting May 12.

The expansion will be released on both the PS4 and the PS3 for $9.99. Also, the developer revealed that to keep things even, they will be lowering the price of the DLC for the PS3. So if you already have the title on the PS3, but never purchased Left Behind, you’ll be able to do so at a cheaper price. This wasn’t an issue for the PS4 version as the full game already came with the DLC.

In addition, Sony has announced that customers who purchase the standalone DLC will have access to a two hour trial of the game’s multiplayer mode titled Factions. The company also took newcomers into consideration. If you want to purchase the whole game after trying out the DLC, there are several upgrade paths available. Check them out below.

PlayStation 4 Upgrade Options

  • Factions Multiplayer – $9.99
  • Single player and Treacherous Territories Maps (if you also own the standalone multiplayer) – $29.99

DRAGON AGE INQUISITION BLACK EMPORIUM

Free DLC coming to Dragon Age: Inquisition next week.

EA has announced today that you will be able to download two Dragon Age: Inquisition DLC packs, next Tuesday on May 5. The packs will be available for free on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and PS3. This announcement comes just in time to whet our appetites for the Jaws of Hakkon DLC, which is due out May 26–as announced by Bioware today.

As for the free content, the first DLC called “The Black Emporium” is described by Bioware as a “premiere shopping destination”. You’ll be able to purchase new weapons, accessories, crafting materials and rare items from Xenon the Antiquarian. Additionally, if you’ve been wanting to change your character’s appearance, the new location will include and object called “The Mirror of Transformation”, which allows you to do just that.

The other pack is an expansion for multiplayer called “Dragonslayer”. With this expansion, you’ll be able to craft an item called the Dragon’s Call, which allows you to face off against a couple of different dragons. Also, this DLC adds a new Ferelden castle and three new agents: Isabela, Skywatcher, and Zither.
