Gaming Daily: Blizzard Sets Date for OVERWATCH Beta

The closer we get to Halo 5: Guardians and Fallout 4, the slower the days seem to progress. Seriously, it’s been an incredible year for gamers, with a new exciting game launching every week, but these two will be huge. The wait is almost over, friends. Now, onto the business at hand. In today’s Gaming Daily, Blizzard sets the date for the Overwatch beta, you can fund a Friday the 13th game on Kickstarter, Bungie’s Luke Smith denies the addition of new microtransactions, learn about the Fallout 4 agility attribute, and Sony announces Bloodborne Game of the Year Edition.

Overwatch’s closed beta gets dated.

Blizzard has announced that their team shooter Overwatch will have several beta tests scheduled, with the first one starting on October 27. The first beta will only be available for a small amount of users, but those who are chosen will have regular access to the test. This one in particular in place to garner feedback on how fun the game is, and those participating will be encouraged to scrutinize every aspect of the game. This first closed beta will gradually include more players when new features are added.

There will also be beta test weekends where those that missed out can join the fun. This will test the servers and make sure they can handle the influx of players with ease. No other information about this event was shared.

You can sign up here for a chance to get an early look at the game. Be warned, the beta will be Windows-only.

Overwatch looks great. All the footage that has been shown off so far is extremely enticing. These tests are important because it allows the team to make sure everything is balanced, and every hero is fun to use. I’m glad Blizzard isn’t using the beta as an incentive like so many companies are doing these days.

Friday the 13th Game

Friday the 13th game looking for $700,000 in Kickstarter funding.

Halloween is just around the corner, which means it’s the best time to load up those horror games. But, what if you are looking for a new title? Well, the folks over at Gun Media announced a new Kickstarter campaign to make a Friday the 13th game. The target goal is $700,000 to launch the title which is described as a “third-person, asymmetrical multiplayer title where one player controls Jason Vorhees, while the remaining seven control camp counselors trying to survive the night.” The game will also be worked on by many of the good people that made the film franchise so successful. The project already has about $300,000 in funding.

Destiny Tribute

Bungie’s Luke Smith denies rumored microtransactions for Destiny consumables.

As the internet already knows, Destiny now includes microtransactions. The original announcement didn’t go so well since fans already felt like they were paying too much for the expansions, but the outrage sizzled down since all you can currently purchase are emotes. After yesterday’s update, some resourceful users datamined some interesting information that revealed plans to sell consumables that increase the loot drop in the raid using silver (real money). The internet did not react kindly to these findings.

Bungie’s Luke Smith took to Twitter to deny these findings, and even go as far as saying they will never do such a thing.

A second tweet reveals some further plans the developer has in mind.

So several things need to be discussed here. First, the information found in the new update is real, and there is no denying that. Whether Bungie was actually going to implement these additions will probably never be known. Secondly, we can all rest easy because it looks like these items will not be making an appearance in the new shop now that the internet has appropriately freaked out.

Fallout 4 S.P.E.C.I.A.L. video series continues.

Another week, another Fallout 4 S.P.E.C.I.A.L. lesson from Bethesda. This week’s video takes a look at agility. This attribute will allow players to move around the wasteland with ease. Allocating points to this branch will also help players increase the effectiveness of sneak attacks. It’s not the most glamorous attribute, but you’ll be happy that you spent some hard earned points on this skill when you’re surrounded by enemies. Watch the comical short video above for a better understanding.

BLOODBORNE IMAGE CROWS 04232015

Sony announces Bloodborne Game of the Year edition without having actually won any award.

Let’s be clear, Bloodborne will most definitely get some Game of the Year nods by the end of 2015. But, Sony has taken it upon themselves to announce Bloodborne Game of the Year Edition without actually having won anything. I guess the Japanese publisher has given their own game the award? Maybe they are trying to psych out the competition? They probably want to avoid having to pull a Kanye by telling everyone that their game is the best of the year now, instead of waiting for different sites to mistakenly choose a different game for the accolade.

Bold move, Sony.

Jokes aside, this is pretty funny. Like I mentioned above, this title will definitely win a few awards. In my opinion, Bloodborne is the best PS4 exclusive, bar none. We also awarded it the coveted perfect burrito score in our review, and I wrote an opinion piece where I shared the story of how I fell in love with the game. So, I think it will eventually make sense to have this version of the game.

It’s really about selling more copies. More potential customers are inclined to look at the game if it has this award in the title. That’s why you see all sorts of games include this sub-header on the retail box. This title will launch November 27 in the UK.
