Monday has arrived, and another week in the grueling gaming month of October is upon us. Are your hips tired yet? Mine are, because I’ve been grinding all month long on these non-stop releases (heh). In today’s recap, we have a Destiny short for the ages, some news on Ubisoft Toronto, and a special message from Insomniac Games in Sunset Overdrive. Buckle up, friends!
Destiny gets silly’d on in this 8-bit Destiny short.
Anyone who has spent the last month and a half in the shoes of their Destiny guardian will feel the above video all the way down to the core of their Dinklebot-guided soul. From the lackluster story to the frustrations of immense grinding, this 8-bit short by Loading Ready Run pretty much captures the essence of what life was like for Tower-dwellers before the first loot cave got patched. It may seem a little dated now due to Bungie’s speedy game updates, but it’s still worth a gander nonetheless. Also, the Destiny theme sounds totally off the chain in 8-bit.

Jade Raymond parts ways with Ubisoft Toronto.
I know what you’re thinking, so let’s go ahead and clear this up now: it had nothing to do with a certain gate into gamer hell that’s been plaguing social media over the last couple of months. Jade Raymond, one of the founders of Ubisoft Toronto who was instrumental in franchises like Assassin’s Creed and Splinter Cell reaching prominence, agreed to split ways with the company in order to pursue future opportunities together. Sometimes you have to let the child spread their wings and head off to adulthoodâ though I’m not exactly sure who we’d consider the kid in this one.
After ten years of guiding the ship, Raymond will step down, leaving Alexandre Parizeau to step in and take her place. She will indeed be missed in the wonderful world of Ubisoft, but it will no doubt be interesting to see what happens with her next. Best of luck and much happiness to you, Ms. Raymond.

Sunset Overdrive breaks the fourth wall to issue a fair warning.
Anyone who has early access to Sunset Overdrive may want to refrain from calling the game “Sunset Overhype,” as instructed by an in-game message from Insomniac’s Brandon Winfrey. While navigating the rooftops of Sunset City, folks have been stumbling across the game’s witty in-game segment, Sunset TV, which had quite the interesting message for game reviewers:
“Hi and welcome to Sunset TV! If youâre watching this, that means youâre currently reviewing or streaming the game. Look, Iâm not trying to sway your review score either way, I mean your opinion is your opinion. But I advise you not to use the phrase âSunset Overhypeâ because thatâs just lazy writing!â Note taken, Mr. Winfrey. We’ll be keeping an eye out for more Sunset TV while we’re out destroying hordes of mutated energy beverage drinkers.
