GAME OF THRONES Will Rule The IMAX Screen This Month

It will be the first television show to do so, and very likely the most epic one to boot: Game of Thrones‘ final two episodes of season four will be broadcast on the IMAX big screens this month — because winter doesn’t discriminate. (It only comes! At incredibly inconvenient times, as it were.) And not only that, but with the screenings comes a brand spankin’ new sneak peek trailer for the forthcoming season five. Oh snap, crackle, AND pop!

It’s a lot to take in, but stay with us if you can. For one week only, starting January 23, 2015, Westeros and all of the known Realm will get purposefully too big for its britches, remastered for the 150 big-big-big screens slated to air the final two episodes — “Watchers on the Wall” and “The Children.” It will be, in a word, awesome.

Because I mean, can’t you just imagine it? (And if you can’t, because you’ve never seen it, well then SPOILERS are a-comin’, you guys, so keep reading at your own peril.) The epic final battle on The Wall? A giant that’s actually — and literally — giant? The whiplash-inducing quickness of the fight between The Children and the white walkers as Bran makes his way to the Three-Eyed Raven? There’s just SO MUCH about this worth liking, don’t you think?

“We couldn’t think of a series more fitting than Game of Thrones to be the first presented in IMAX,” explained Greg Foster, Senior Executive Vice President, IMAX Corp. and CEO of IMAX Entertainment (whoa what a mouthful!), in a statement. “The scope and production quality of the show is quite remarkable, which will be highlighted even further in select IMAX locations – allowing fans, as never before, to become a part of author George R. R. Martin’s world that David Benioff and D. B. Weiss created for HBO.”

So — who’s in? (Tickets will be available here, soon.) Let’s all raise our hands in the comments.
