GAME OF THRONES’ The Mountain Will Shame You Into Abandoning Plastic Bottles (NSFW)

Shame or Glory?

Uh, we swear to the old gods and the new that this amazing new (NSFW) Game of Thrones inspired commercial is glorious.

Because in this long ad that plays more like a short film, the Cersei-torturing Septa Unella (played by Hannah Waddingham, just as she does on the show), follows a man with her infamous, annoying bell and repeated chants of “shame” as he purchases some large plastic bottles of sparkling water and carries them through the aisles of the grocery store. It continues on through the jeering and food-throwing streets of King’s Landing, to the set of Game of Thrones, where he delivers them to actor Thor Björnsson, who we all know better as the mounstrous (literally and figuratively) Gregor Clegane, The Mountain.

The clever commercial’s “shame”—and the reason for the poor sap’s treatment by the Septa—is at our continued use of plastic water bottles, and it comes from SodaStream, who just made our favorite commercial of the year (and is in the running for our favorite commercial of the century).

Now, it is a little weird to see Septa Unella and The Mountain working together, what with his loyalty to Queen Cersei—and also since, spoilers, the zombie monster is currently torturing the nun-like lady in the pits of the Red Keep—but since we support treating the planet better and like having more Game of Thrones in our lives, we have no complaints. Plus, this website they’ve put together is just too funny not to want to see these two working together.

Where does this rank among your favorite commercials ever? Send us a raven (or just type them out in the comments below) with your thoughts.
