The next season of Game of Thrones will arrive one day, right? It feels like it’s way too far in the future, but I have some info in today’s TV-Cap that will help satisfy your Westeros cravings. Yes and Yes. The Game of Thrones season six finale saw Daenerys Targaryen setting sail towards Westeros with her fleet. But who will she encounter when she lands? Watchers on the Wall reports that once she’s at the Dragonpit, she’ll start meeting with familiar characters to work on creating a movement in the North. Their source reports, “Daenerys will have at least one scene where she’s speaking with Davos Seaworth and Brienne of Tarth.” Could this glorious match up really be happening? Cover Redux. Monday night’s Supergirl featured a scene that was an homage to a classic comic book cover, and The CW created a poster for the occasion. The image of Superman carrying Supergirl appeared on the cover of Crisis on Infinite Earths #7–though in the comic book version, Kara was dead. Luckily, that wasn’t the case on Supergirl. Secret Agents. The CW is developing another project based on a comic book. Hacktivist, published by Boom! Studios is about friends who co-found a social networking company and are then recruited by the CIA. That’s the story in a tiny nutshell. The comic initially launched with a story by Alyssa Milano with writers Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly and artist Marcus To. Milano is on board as executive producer for the television project along with others. [CBR]
The More You Know. Today I learned that “eSports” means electronic sports, like competitive video gaming. Who knew? A lot of people, apparently, because Dan Harmon is producing an eSports sitcom on YouTube Red, YouTube’s subscription service. The series isn’t titled yet but focuses on “a newly formed team of eSports players trying to make it to the top in the cutthroat world of competitive gaming.” I wonder if they’ll get a license to feature a known game or if they’ll come up with a brand new title. Rumor to Reality. It’s official: Stephen Colbert is hosting an election night special on Showtime. You’ll be able to see his commentary, titled Stephen Colbert’s Live Election Night Democracy’s Series Finale: Who’s Going To Clean Up This Sh-t?, on November 8 at 11:00p.m. This will replace The Late Show on TV that night. VR. The Simpsons have hit their 600th episode. That is not a small number. The family is celebrating the special anniversary in a unique way: they’re going VR. If you have Google Cardboard, you can enjoy a VR couch gag right this way. If you don’t, you can enjoy the above video–it’s not as cool as the VR experience, but the “Planet of the Couches” gag is still pretty darn entertaining. [Nerdist]
Moving On. Tracy Morgan has found a new home at TBS. Though FX passed on the series starring the actor, TBS has placed a 10-episode order. The untitled single camera comedy by Jordan Peele and John Carcieri stars Morgan and follows him after he’s been released from 15 years in prison. As you can imagine, he has to face a lot of changes after that much time out of the world. TBS says the show “will capture Morgan’s stand-up persona while also serving as a commentary on race relations, the Gen X/Millennial gap and the American penal system.”
Location Theory. Westworld keeps building the mysteries layer by layer, which means the internet has all kinds of theories. And now the showrunners have responded to one about the location–kind of. Many fans think that Westworld isn’t on our planet. Jonathan Nolan said, “The important thing for us was, when you come to the series you have no idea where you are. Disneyland is in a parking lot in Anaheim, but it’s spectacular and you forget where you are when you’re inside.” That’s not exactly an answer, but he did say if you’re paying close attention, you’ll know where Westworld is by the end of the first season. Host with the Most. Great British Bake Off is moving from BBC to Channel 4, and it’s going without its usual crew. Only Paul Hollywood has agreed to stay. So, who will the replacements be?
