GAME OF THRONES Season 5 Key Art Has Dragons, Will Travel

Avast ye! Winged fire-breathing mythical beasts off the port bow! Batten down the hatches and prepare for a good old fashioned scorching!

Game of Thrones continues to haunt our every waking thought here at the Nerdist offices, and now we’ll have the prospect of sweet, sweet dragons to look forward to as well. Much like Khaleesi, we were wondering, “Where are our dragons?” The answer is that they were waiting until HBO released key art for Game of Thrones Season 5. After taking one look at that terrifying face appearing in the mist, the wait was damn well worth it.

Game Of Thrones S5 - Key Art

At the end of season 4, we saw Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) setting sail across the Narrow Sea for the kinder, less-Lannister-filled shores of Essos. And, of course, we all know that a trip to Essos will put Tyrion in close proximity of the Mother of Dragons herself, Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke). Pairing Khaleesi and Tyrion together may be the best dynamic duo since Arya and the Hound or Brienne and Podrick.

That being said, season 5 may not be everyone’s cup of tea, according to George R.R. Martin, who recently said that characters will die on the show that have not died in the books. Not everything in Westeros is all doom and gloom though; if you’re looking for laughs, this season 4 gag reel has them in spades.

Game of Thrones Season 5 premieres on April 12.
