GAME OF THRONES Adds Richard E Grant, Essie Davis for Theatrical Roles

Alright folks, get ready because this one’s going to be a doozy. A veritable smorgasbord of info. A storm of spoilers, if you will. So be warned now: if you don’t want to hear what may be going down in season six of Game of Thrones, go ahead and exit this post right now.

Ok, now that we’ve got all the spoilerphobes out of here, let’s continue! We’ve got a bevy of information regarding the upcoming season of Thrones to discuss, and it all revolves around wee ol’ Braavos. For those who’ve read the books, you’ll likely remember the theater troupe that put on quite the audacious and—shall we say—exaggerated take on the goings-on in Westeros. Well, as it turns out, Essie Davis from The Babadook and Richard E Grant are going to be portraying two of the major actor-players in that merry band of mummer misfits.

According to a series of photos from Spanish site Teleprogramma, Grant and Davis’ characters were essentially revealed to be that of the mummer troupe leader and the leading actress tasked with playing Queen Cersei in their farcical satire performances.

Folks who’ve read the books know that this is a major part of Arya’s storyline, so it makes sense that the duo were spotted on set together:

Could Davis be playing the part of Lady Stork, the leading (and very drunk) performer from The Gate, Izembaro’s acting troupe? And does that mean that Grant is playing the leader of the pack (or some amalgamation therein)? It certainly feels possible! I can’t imagine anyone casting Grant for anything short of a guest starring arc, and Izembaro is—according to Watchers on the Wall—apparently set for a 3-episode long storyline on the series.

There are a ton of photos that we cannot embed or have on the site here—hey! Rules and respect are important, internet!—but head over to Teleprogramma to see Grant in what looks like some sort of Jamie Lannister or Rhaegar Targaryen-esque get-up (we’re completely speculating on that last part, mostly because it doesn’t look like he’s playing King Robert as is/was the role Izembaro played in the play in the books).

What do you think of these latest developments? Let’s hear ’em in the comments! Oh and while we’re at it, let’s also speculate about Jon Snow’s potential sibling since we’re falling down rabbit holes:
