GAME OF THRONES’ Mountain Breaks Deadlift World Record

Just over a year ago, we told you about how Games of Thrones’ Mountain, Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, came extremely close to breaking the world record for throwing a washing machine. This year, he decided to go the more traditional route and attempt a good old fashioned deadlift at the 2018 Arnold Classic in Columbus, Ohio.

Reported by io9, and with former “World’s Strongest Man” and current WWE superstar Mark Henry looking on, Björnsson broke the world record for the deadlift at an astounding 1,041 pounds. He was even able to do it without having blood spout from every orifice in his face!

For some reference, the lightest car on the market is the SmartforTwo, which weighs in at 1,808 pounds. While Björnsson may not be able to lift it over his head Superman-style, he’d be able to roll it down the road with no issues should it break down.

The obvious question we are all asking is how does this affect the Mountain’s character arc going into the final season of Game of Thrones? Will we get actual footage of Björnsson dead-lifting dragons or repairing the wall singlehandedly? Only time will tell.

In the meantime, you can check out more videos from Rogue Fitness on their YouTube channel here.

So what are your thoughts? Should the Mountain be picking up and throwing way more things than he currently is on Game of Thrones, or has Björnsson earned the break? Let me know on Twitter @donnielederer or sound off in the comments below.
