As every house that swears fealty to the Starks knows, winter is coming, but in much less dire(wolf) news, something else, something that is long, long overdue, has finally arrived: a Rifftrax for Game of Thrones.
And they aren’t just doing some highlights or a few select episodes; they have decided to go all the way back to the start, with the very first episode (appropriately titled “Winter is Coming,” the premiere aired on April 17, 2011). The full version is already available for download, but they have released a teaser video for it.
“Ugh, this is already different from the books. Childhood ruined!”
They say that if they manage to do a riff for every episode (this weekend will be the 67th from the show) before George R.R. Martin completes the next book “he has to buy us all our own Unsullied!” The smart money is on them getting it done first.
If you aren’t familiar with Rifftrax, then be prepared to start dropping some dimes on a whole bunch of downloads, because they are commentaries designed to be played simultaneously with movies and shows, done by the Mystery Science Theater 3000 stars, most notably Michael J. Nelson, Kevin Murphy (Tom Servo), and Bill Corbett (Crow T. Robot).
