GAME OF THRONES’ First Day of Shooting S7 Was a Very Intense Death Scene (EXCLUSIVE)

Editor’s Note: this post contains spoilers from season 7 of Game of Thrones — don’t say we didn’t warn ya! (‘Cuz we did. Just now.)

When it comes to first days back on the job, watching your daughter die while chained up to a wall sounds like a pretty traumatic way to get back into the swing of things. But when your job is making a show like Game of Thrones, that’s just another day that ends in “y.” In this latest installment of HBO’s behind-the-scenes companion series, The Game Revealed, actresses Lena Headey (Cersei) and Indira Varma (Ellaria Sand) talk about the motivation and pressure of jumping back into the series with such an intense shoot. Director Mark Mylod is clearly an emotional masochist, as evidenced by our exclusive clip from the third episode here.

The episode, centered around the third episode of the season–“The Queen’s Justice”, also focuses on the first meeting of Jon and Daenerys, Dame Diana Rigg’s (a.k.a. the Queen of Thorns Olenna Tyrell) mic-drop of a farewell, Euron Greyjoy’s reception on his return to King’s Landing, and the taking of Casterly Rock.
