GAME OF THRONES’ Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington Discuss Their First Meeting

When Daenerys Targaryen was idling in Meereen for roughly 93 of Game of Thrones‘ first 60 episodes, it felt like we would never get to see her and Jon Snow in a scene together, but last week two of the show’s biggest player’s finally (FINALLY) came face-to-face. But this long-awaited moment wasn’t just a big deal for viewers, it was a monumental first meeting for the two actors.

In this “Fire and Ice” behind-the-scenes featurette from HBO, Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington talk about what it was like for Jon and Daenerys to finally stand in the same room with their royal counterpart. While Jon didn’t have nearly as impressive a list of epithets as the very impressed with herself Daenerys (in fairness, if we had even one dragon we’d make sure people knew that every minute of every day), she still saw many of the traits that make men willing to follow Jon.

Never forget, in an unforgettable, highly anticipated scene where secret relatives Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen met for the first time ever, Ser Davos stole the moment by continuing to be the best.

This pow-wow might not have gone as smoothly as either Jon or Dany expected–what with him less worried about her dragons than he is with the Night King, and her thoroughly confused by his super vague talk of “the dead”–but at least the two got to size up the other, and more importantly she didn’t have him killed for refusing to bend the knee.

It’s a start!

And after waiting forever for this meeting it’s all we could have hoped for.
