Everything You Need to Know About the Fyre Fest Documentaries

The 2017 Fyre Festival in the Bahamas was sold as an epic event that would be worth the high price tag. Those who attended were guaranteed an experience they would never forget. And it delivered, but not in the way anyone expected. Rather than luxury, comfort, and fun, festival-goers and workers alike were treated to a massive scam that was so terrible it’s not clear if anyone should laugh or cry about it. It was a nightmare that played out in real time too, thanks to social media. Fyre was such an instant and iconic disaster it has led to two separate documentaries, one from Netflix and one from Hulu, both of which were released days apart. Which one did a better job of capturing the catastrophe and who was responsible for it though? And do you need to watch both to get the full story? Nerdist News has all of the major differences between the competing docs.

On today’s episode, host Jessica Chobot explores whether you should be Team Netflix or Team Hulu when it comes to the competing behind-the-scenes looks at the making of the music fest that became mayhem. Both docs have their issues, including who they worked with and what they did to get that access, but each can boast a strength the other can’t. Does that mean one stands above the other though?

We thought those “cheese sandwiches” would be the definitive image from the Fyre Festival, but that was before we heard that one employee’s…uh… interesting story. Someday we might forget which doc we heard that in, but we’ll always remember it.

What do you think? Which doc do you prefer? Light up our comments with your thoughts on Fyre Fest.
