Funko’s MY LITTLE PONY Sea Ponies Are Ready to Travel to Seaquestria

Land. Sky. Sea. What do they have in common? They’re all places you can find My Little Ponies—obviously. Earth ponies roam the land, Pegasi rule the skies, and Sea Ponies live under the water. Seriously. I know Sea Ponies sound like fan fiction, but I’m not making them up; they’ve been around in My Little Pony history since the ’80s. There were even baby Sea Pony toys. Baby. Sea. Ponies. They were cute and they could be found in the bathtub in my childhood.

But I digress.

Sea Ponies are making a return and will feature in the upcoming My Little Pony: The Movie, the theatrical animated tale set in the same world as Friendship Is Magic. Get a look all of the Mane 6 as Sea Ponies in Seaquestria in this 360 degree video:

Funko is running with the Pop! possibilities for the film and turning four of the Mane 6 into Sea Ponies, including Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, and Fluttershy. As you can see in the below figure, the tails turns into mer-tail fins and will help the ponies navigate through the water. I don’t know how the transformation into Sea Ponies allows them to breathe underwater, but it’s a cartoon about talking ponies that are able to eat and hold things without fingers or thumbs, so we’ll buy into whatever.

Check out more of the ponies’ mermaid looks in the gallery below. Funko’s My Little Pony Sea Ponies Pop! vinyls will be available wherever you purchase Pop! toys in October. That’s also when you’ll find My Little Pony: The Movie in theaters; it premieres on October 6.

Will you be taking a dive to buy any Sea Ponies? Did anyone else have generation one Sea Ponies back in the day? Sound off in the comments.
