Funko Classic STAR TREK ReAction Figures Make Our Childhoods Complete

In the eternal war for the hearts of fandom between — as 30 Rock‘s Jack Donaghy put it — the “Stars, both Wars and Trek,” the former has long had it all over the latter in one very important department: action figures. Compared to the nigh infinite number of Star Wars action figures produced since 1978, Trekkers have enjoyed only occasional spurts of toys from the 23rd century, with just a fraction of these figures devoted to the original, classic Trek of the ’60s. And even the most devoted Star Trek fan would admit that the best known such spurt — the Playmates line of the ’90s — pales in comparison to Kenner and Hasbro’s incalculably long line. Fortunately, Funko, as it has so often of late, is coming to the rescue, with a wave of its ReAction figures spotlighting the beloved crew of the NCC-1701. Check out the first images of Spock, Sulu, Uhura, and Doctor “Bones” McCoy…

Star Trek

Yes, we can finally pit the Federation against the Empire old-school style, and — as in this recent Star Wars vs. Star Trek mashup video — introduce the twenty-third century to a galaxy far, far away. Sure, McCoy doesn’t look all that different from Spock, but some of the original Star Wars figures didn’t differ all that radically in appearance from one another either. Along with the above crew members, Funko also unveiled Scotty, Vina from “The Cage”/”The Menagerie”, the Gorn from “Arena”, and the lady-killing Captain James T. Kirk himself at this weekend’s Toy Fair in New York.
