Functional BMO Has Games, Still A Few Years From Sentient ADVENTURE TIME Fun

You love Adventure Time. I love Adventure Time. We all love Adventure Time, and we all love BMO. I mean, that’s just science. Sure, everyone has their favorite characters and ships in Ooo, but BMO is universally loved. Heck, even if you don’t love Adventure Time (I don’t know how you could live with yourself, you monster) you love BMO.

BMO is of course the sentient console system that resides in the treehouse with Finn and Jake and often accompanies them around Ooo. Very reminiscent of a GameBoy with a splash of one of those miniature TV/VHS combos mashed together into one awesome hybrid, BMO is a real multi-tasker. It breaks into song, plays video games (obviously), and is just an all around really great friend, you guys. Sentient technology is much more palatable when its as sweet as BMO. BMO for SkyNet President 2016!

DIY creator Mike Baretta made the awesomesauce BMO handheld you see in the video below, and he nailed it. Why choose to make the little blue wonder? According to Mike by way of Makezine:

BMO is one of my all time favorite Adventure Time characters, who doesn’t love BMO? He is full of personality from the way he is written to his awesome retro design. As a major plus his boxy shape made the design process a lot smoother. The way I placed the components wound up with a fairly chunky design but that was perfect because BMO has a fairly chunky look!

Below, you can see how Mike’s handiwork looks when it boots up. Definitely be sure to check out the links over at Makezine if you have any interest at all in creating one for yourself. He has an expansive imgur gallery chronicling his process as well from which we’ve included a few photos below. By the way, we also profiled another build-your-own BMO a while back which featured more character-specific prompts, but none of this awesome Donkey Kong gameplay.
