Fun World Releasing An Anniversary Edition Ghostface Mask

When Wes Craven‘s Scream hit the big screen in 1996, no one could have seen the pop culture phenomenon that it created coming. The movie put teen slasher movies back on the map, reinvented Craven’s career, and launched screenwriter Kevin Williamson‘s. The film also helped make the “Ghostface” mask a part of horror iconography forever. As the story goes, producer Marianne Maddalena saw the mask on a location scout for the film. The mask was hanging on the wall in a house the crew was considering shooting in and Maddalena brought it to Craven. After some back and forth with the studio, the filmmakers were finally able to get the rights to the design from Fun World and the rest is history.

Now, we have some super cool news for fans like me that Fun World will be releasing a special
silver edition of the mask to commemorate the silver anniversary of the creation of the mask. What’s even better, the item will be sold with a certificate of authenticity and a percentage of the revenue from the sales will go to brain cancer research, with the disease recently claiming the life of Scream director Wes Craven.

Ghostface Silver Mask 12 19 15

Ain’t she a beaut? It just goes to show that the Ghostface image is as popular as ever with fans and collectors and leads to even more head scratching when you think about how the team behind the MTV Scream series chose not to use the mask in the show. Knuckleheads!

There is no word when the mask will be made available for purchase but we’ll be sure to keep you up to date!
