Fruit and Talent Collide in This Epic Watermelon Carving Series

Just when you think you’ve seen everything there is to see on the internet, you realize that is a really stupid thing to think. Take, for example, this series of videos from Ortolano Production – Valeriano Fatica over on YouTube called “Best Watermelon Carving.” It’s in Italian, but there’s no talking, so just hang in there. In addition to some amazing pumpkin carvings, OP-VF seems to be content to carve into just about anything for his creations. The video above is actually an attempt to one-up a previous video of his in which he carved a snake/dinosaur/dragon head out of a watermelon. There aren’t too many watermelon creations as of this writing, but the ones he has posted are insanely awesome.

Among the two undistinguished lizard creatures, OP-VF has also posted videos of watermelon carvings including a unicorn, a crazy-realistic ape, a wolf, and the above carving of Cthulhu. He seems to experiment with how the videos are shot and edited each time, so some videos come off as more of a tutorial while others seem to an attempt at showing off some filmmaking skills as well. Outside of the watermelon carvings, the channel features various other carving materials ranging from the tried-and-true pumpkin to potatoes and even a simple lemon. He seems to really let his geek flag fly with his work as he as pulled inspiration from Dragonball Z, Game Of Thrones, also created the coolest 3D pumpkin carving of The Joker I have ever seen.

What do you think? Are you as blown away by some of these things as I am? What else would you want to see him make? Let us know in the comments below, and be sure to check out the rest of his videos over on his YouTube channel.
