Frozen things like Olaf the snowman may be getting through summer just fine, but ABC still thinks it’s time to cool down. They’re delivering a one hour special that explores the making of Frozen early next month. If you’ve ever wanted a look inside the Walt Disney Animation Studios or to see the Norwegian inspirations for Arendelle, then this is the special for you. It will feature appearances from Idina Menzel (Elsa), Kristen Bell (Anna), songwriters Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, John Lasseter, directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, and producer Peter Del Vecho.
The behind the scenes special is titled The Story of Frozen: Making a Disney Animated Classic. While I’m a huge fan of the animated film and have watched the tale of Anna and Elsa more times than I care to admit, I find it interesting that Disney is already calling the film a classic. Unless they’re defining classic by box office numbers? Regardless, I’m will to let it go and I look forward to learning more about the origins of the film, how it evolved over time, and getting an inside look into the animation and effects. Actually, I wish Disney would release a special like this for all of their animated projects.
Besides looking back at the nuts and bolts of Frozen, the special will also peek into the future. Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, and Hans will be making their debut on Once Upon a Time on the show’s season four premiere on September 28th. According to Variety, we’ll learn âexciting announcements about the next chapter of Frozen” and see a preview of Frozen in Storybrooke. While they have your attention, Disney will wrap the special with a sneak peek at Big Hero 6.
The Story of Frozen: Making a Disney Animated Classic will air on Tuesday, September 2nd, at 8:00pm ET/PT. Will you be watching, or are you Frozen-ed out? Let us know in the comments.

I’m jazzed for it cuz for whatever reason, they left this off the Blu-ray. The sneak peek at Big Hero 6 doesn’t hurt either.
