Fred Armisen And Carrie Brownstein Preview Portlandia’s New Season With Music

“Dead pets, that’s all taxidermy is,” Carrie Brownstein says matter-of-factly over Fred Armisen’s ukulele noodling in a musical plot summary of one of the upcoming episodes of Portlandia‘s fifth season. A very grave subject that would be a buzzkill at any non-Wiccan social function sounds infinitely more palatable when discussed by these two music/comedy luminaries in a musical promo video for IFC’s now-veteran series.

The video below contains a few other less morbid, more melodious hints about what to expect from the new season of Portlandia, which will include a medical episode, potentially about hypochondriacs, and details the provenance of Toni and Candace’s relationship — and whether one of them used to drive a sports car.

This spoken work performance, though rife with interesting tidbits about the upcoming season of Portlandia, was all too brief. If this tell us anything, it’s that we need more Brownstein-Armisen musical collaborations, and I hope this foreshadowed plenty of these moments in the new season

Portlandia airs every Thursday at 10pm on IFC
