Fox Orders Marvel X-Men Pilot, Meet RIVERDALE’S Archie, More TV News

Thursday brings the premiere of The CW’s Riverdale. I know many folks excited about the spin on Archie Comics. Today’s TV-Cap has an interview with Archie himself, a glimpse of George Lucas in Legends of Tomorrow, word about Fox ordering a new Marvel pilot, and much more.

X-Men in Hiding. Fox has ordered a pilot for an untitled Marvel series centered on mutants. The show, which has been mentioned by Marvel before, is from Matt Nix and focuses on mutants on the run. TVLine reports the story will follow “two ordinary parents who discover their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.” Ooh. Jeph Loeb, Bryan Singer, and Nix will executive produce the drama. Oh! And which mutants might we see in the series? We have some ideas. [TVLine]

Family Problems. Do you like exclusives and Vikings? Then this is the clip for you. We have an exclusive scene from the History series, and it’s all about Ragnar’s sons. Watch the above and get Jessica M.’s thoughts on the clip here at Nerdist.

More Adventures. If you like TNT’s The Librarians, it’s time to raise your coffee mug, because the action adventure has been renewed for season four. [Variety]

Head to the Sea. Adventure Time is back on January 30! Well, to be specific, Adventure Time: Islands will premiere on that date. It’s an eight-part miniseries unfolding over four nights on Cartoon Network and will answer something you’ve probably been wondering about if you’ve spent time in the Land of Ooo: what happened to the humans? Insert dramatic music here. Don’t want to wait to get answers? You can get Islands on DVD or via streaming as of January 24.

New Digs. HBO’s The Leftovers isn’t for the lighthearted. The first look at the third and final season of the series shows a bit of the new location, Australia, and teases that the end is near. Season three will arrive on April 16. [Slashfilm]

Meet Archie. KJ Apa is taking on the role of Archie Andrews in Riverdale. Playing the guy in the name of Archie Comics? No big deal, right? Sydney talked to Apa about his acting, his audition, the character, and more while on set. Read what Apa had to say here at Nerdist. When you’ve finished digesting the interview, learn how to make some Jughead milkshakes.

Dark Side or No? Syfy’s The Magicians is kicking off season two today, January 25, and we have a report from set. Sydney dropped by and talked to the cast about whether Julia’s a villain and more. Read her full report here, and then don’t forget to check out her review of season two.

Making Movies. January 26’s Legends of Tomorrow features a few interesting aspects: a shaggy Rip Hunter, the Legion of Doom, and George Lucas. Yes, that George Lucas. Rip thinks he’s making a movie, but the Legends are there to help jog his memory. What do you think? [CBR]

Don’t Forget! Season two of Netflix’s Voltron: Legendary Defender arrived on January 20, and Kyle A.’s keeping you supplied with all the recaps of every episode.

Head to the comments and tell me your opinion on anything TV-Cap related–Riverdale, X-Men, all of it!
