Former DAILY SHOW Host Jon Stewart Rescued an Escaped Bull

Eight months after retiring from hosting The Daily Show, Jon Stewart has once again proved himself to be a hero: This time, the comedian gave an escaped bull a new lease on life.

The bull, nicknamed Frank Lee after the escaped Alcatraz inmate Frank Lee Morris, broke free from a livestock holding area on Friday and ended up wandering around Queens. Police captured it on the York College campus and took it to Animal Care Centers of NYC in Brooklyn, where the staff was hoping to save the fuzzy guy from becoming a hamburger. In swooped Stewart and his wife Tracey, noted for their love of animals, who met and then drove Frank Lee to Farm Sanctuary in Watkins Glen, NY. You may be familiar with Farm Sanctuary if you’re a fan of adorable animal videos on the interwebs. Really, who isn’t?

The sanctuary posted a video of Stewart feeding Frank Lee on Twitter and their Facebook page with the caption: “Breaking News: We are happy to report that the bull who was on the run earlier today in Queens is safe and on his way to Farm Sanctuary in Watkins Glen, NY. Jon and Tracey Stewart picked up the individual whom we are calling Frank this afternoon from Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC). Special thanks to our colleague Mike Stura of Skylands Animal Sanctuary And Rescue who drove out to assist with the transport. More info to come.”

“I bet he sleeps well tonight,” said Stewart. Check them out on Twitter @FarmSanctuary and prepare to ooh and aw. They’ve got a number of shelters for animals, including ones in Orland and Los Angeles, CA. Check out the video and maybe rethink today’s lunch. Veggie burger, anyone? Are you drowning in cuteness?
