Food-themed Custom Vinyls Will Make You Hungry for Art

Vinyl figures give artists a blank canvas to express their visions in 3D form. More than just toys, vinyl figures are becoming an expressive medium used by artists from all genres. From surface painting to full dismemberment and with reapplication, vinyl toys take on the visual of the artist’s story… and when the artist is all about food, it makes for a delicious outcome.

San Francisco artist Zard Apuya uses vinyl toys to create his own renditions of tasty treats. From Japanese candies to off the shelf chocolate, these vinyl toys are sweet tributes to everyone’s favorite sweet snacks.

Picture blank Munny vinyls are transformed into standing versions of Kit Kat, Snickers, and Japanese Pocky. Hand painted and appliquéd, these decorated vinyls are extremely detailed and look good enough to eat.

Apuya is also influenced by Disneyland food (and really, who isn’t?): Mickey ice cream bars, Dole Whip and Mickey caramel apples are just a few favorite park foods that get the artist’s treatment. Even the beloved Disney Parks turkey leg gets a Munny-fied version.

Select pieces are available for sale online in his store and you can check out more of Apuya’s food figure creations on his website. I could really go for a Dole Whip Munny right now.
