Foo Fighters Go to Space in Their “The Sky Is A Neighborhood” Music Video

Foo Fighters have done entertaining work with the music videos behind their upcoming album Concrete & Gold thus far: “Run” showed the band performing as super old and bearded men, and now the band has shared new visuals for “The Sky Is A Neighborhood,” one that Grohl himself directed.

The video stars Grohl’s daughters experiencing supernatural elements in a cabin, atop which the band is energetically playing the song with what looks like literal stars in their eyes (but scaled down, of course). In a press release, Grohl said that the song came to him while stargazing one night, and that he came up with the melody without laying his hands on a guitar:

“One night I was lying out looking up at stars. Just imagining all of these stars as places that have life on them as well, and I decided that the sky is a neighborhood, that we need to keep our shit together in order to survive in this universe full of life. But I had no music yet. I just had the title. So everyday I would walk around, kind of humming this thing in my head.”

To go with the spacey theme of the video, the band has also launched a constellation viewer, which can be accessed on mobile devices via sky.foofighters.com and allows viewers to get a realistic look at what the stars in their area look like, “all while tiny Foo Fighters soundtrack your explorations at the bottom of the screen.”

All in all, Concrete & Gold is shaping up to be a real winner. Do you agree? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
