Anyone who has ever experienced a power outage knows how much of a headache they are. You spend all day worrying about whether everything in their refrigerator will spoil, and all night wishing you had functioning heat. So maybe that’s why a city in Florida opted to soften the blow when it had to report an outage to their residents by also alerting them to a fake zombie outbreak.
In a story we came across at The Hill, the city of Lake Worth sent out an alert at around 1:45 am on Sunday morning for a “power outage and zombie alert” for both their town and “Terminus,” which fans of The Walking Dead know as the fictional base of Gareth. The person responsible for the warning cleverly blamed “extreme zombie activity” for the power loss for the over 7,000 customers who likely had to at least wonder for a moment if they were about to fight reanimated corpses in the dark.

Despite this obviously being a jokeâand a pretty good one at thatâcity officials say they are investigating who sent out the zombie warning and have assured residents that they do not have to worry about the dead rising from their graves and trying to eat their brains.
Or do they? What did cause that power outage exactly? And why wouldn’t they know immediately who sent out the warning? How many people have that ability, let alone have the overnight weekend shift? Was that person the first human victim of the zombie attack? WHAT IS LAKE WORTH HIDING?
Eh, at least they fixed the electricity.
