First WONDER WOMAN Cast Photo Confirms Major Rumor

The long-awaited Wonder Woman movie has officially started shooting. And one of its newest cast members has inadvertently given away one of the film’s secrets.

Saïd Taghmaoui, an actor who previously appeared in both Lost and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, posted an image of himself on Facebook in costume alongside his Wonder Woman co-star, Chris Pine. However, the clothing worn by Pine and Taghmaoui’s characters appears to have confirmed the Wonder Woman rumors that were circulating last month.

Consider this your SPOILER WARNING before scrolling down to see the image, which has since been deleted from Taghmaoui’s Facebook page and preserved on countless movie news websites.

Still here? Good.

Wonder Woman Cast Taghmaoui and Pine

It’s not clear whom Taghmaoui will be playing in the film. But the period clothing appears to suggest that Wonder Woman will be at least partially set during World War I. That may mean that Pine’s Steve Trevor will only be around for the sequences set in the past. Considering that Wonder Woman has closer ties to World War II in her comic book history and in the Wonder Woman ‘70s TV series, it seems odd that the movie is using the first World War as her introduction.

Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman was already rumored to be hundreds of years old in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and this latest revelation seems to support that theory as well. Nicole Kidman was reportedly signed to the Wonder Woman cast earlier this month, but her role was not disclosed. The prevailing speculation is that Kidman will portray Wonder Woman’s mother, Hippolyta, or the sorceress, Circe, who is said to be one of the film’s primary villains.

Wonder Woman will be released on June 23, 2017.
