The first peek at Disney’s Big Hero 6 focuses on a boy and his robot. Teen genius Hiro Hamada’s closest companion is a huggable robot called Baymax. Even though Baymax is high-tech, he’s not exactly equipped for battle. When San Fransokyo is plagued by a villain and Hiro forms a team to fight back, he has to make appropriate attire for Baymax – that means armor.
As you can see in the trailer, Hiro has some design adjustments to make:
The new footage is basically an extension of the stills that were released earlier this week. We see that Baymax is impossibly cute; the fact that he runs off, distracted by a soccer ball makes him seem like a lovable pet. We also see Hiro’s smarts in action. He designs a suit for his pal a la Tony Stark. The music that plays while he renders the armor even sounds reminiscent of main theme from The Avengers. I can see a touch of anime influence in the design for Hiro, but his appearance also reminds me of Vanellope von Schweetz from Wreck-It Ralph.
Note that neither Hiro or Baymax speak in the trailer. Disney hasn’t officially confirmed the voice cast for the film and might not want audiences to know who’s playing Hiro just yet. I’m not sure if Baymax speaks.
It’s only a minute and a half look, but Big Hero 6 seems humorous with characters I already like. I want Baymax to be my friend, and I admire Hiro’s determination. I’m looking forward to meeting the rest of Hiro’s squad – Go Go Tamago, Wasabi No-Ginger, Honey Lemon, and Fred – soon.

That’s just the best. A nice tease, a hint of the humor… no mention of Marvel though…
I will be there…I am already planning a BAYMAX costume for Halloween!
My kids will probably like it.
