This past weekend, Marvel Studios held its first set of screenings for Thor: Ragnarok, its third hotly anticipated movie outing of what has already been a terrific year for the studio. Though critics have yet to hit the ‘net with their full reviews, we have gotten a look at thee early viewers’ general consensus on Twitter, and it looks like the God of Thunder’s third outing will be yet another win for the MCU. (How do Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios manage to keep doing it?)
Taking a look at these tweets, there’s a lot of praise for the humor in Thor: Ragnarok, which should come as no surprise to fans of director Taika Waititi, who is known best for his comedic films like What We Do in the Shadows and Hunt for the Wilderpeople. A lot of comparisons are made to Guardians of the Galaxy as well, which is high praise indeed.
Loved âThor: Ragnarokâ. @TaikaWaititi did an awesome job. Movie is loaded with his trademark humor. Laughed beginning to end. pic.twitter.com/kfROuqSyVe

Thor Ragnarok is one of the funniest Marvel Studio movies thus far, definitely the best Thor film. Loved Mark Mothersbaughâs score.

#ThorRagnarok is laugh out loud funny from start to finish. Stumbles a bit in the first act, but it triumphs when it gets weird with it.

#ThorRagnarok was an absolute BLAST! Hysterical and seriously kick ass! Also @taikawaititi is a riot!

THOR RAGNAROK is hilarious & weird & offbeat & retro & sublime. Love how Marvel let Taika Waititi make a movie that’s Waititi-ish as hell.

Even less surprising is that Cate Blanchett is also getting a ton of praise, because Cate Blanchett. We already knew she could play a great villain, as her wicked stepmother was one of the great things about 2015’s live-action version of Cinderella. Looks like she’s pulled off yet another legendary villain with Hela.
A gay man’s guide to THOR RAGNAROK: Cate Blanchett as the villainess may be the first actress to deliver her performance entirely in GIF.

#ThorRagnarok is SO much fun I almost can’t take it. The best: Thor movie, Cate Blanchett scene stealing, Jeff Goldblum Goldblum-ing.

Btw, #ThorRagnarok is solid MCU fun. Great music, Blanchett is awesome, looks/feels like an 80’s video game. Slight, but wholly entertaining

Tessa Thompson is also getting a ton of love as Valkyrie, adding yet another badass lady to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Do we see a future Avenger in the making here? Seems a lot of people think so.
Thor: Ragnarok is just plain fun. It’s hilarious from start to finish with quirky performances & exciting action. Tessa Thompson is the MVP. pic.twitter.com/7GyYG4IZZ5

No. 1 @TessaThompson_x is hands down the best part of #ThorRagnarok. She rocks. Hope she’s New Avenger someday. Also Cate Blanchett has fun

With early reactions this positive, that means that all of six of the superhero movies released this years so far — that list including Logan, The LEGO Batman Movie, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Wonder Woman, Spider-Man: Homecoming — will all have turned out to be big-time crowd pleasers.
