First-Person Horror Game THE VANISHING OF ETHAN CARTER Spawns Prequel Webcomic

Developer The Astronauts’ The Vanishing of Ethan Carter continues to churn along at the Polish studio, so as fans wait for the 2014 PC horror game, they’ve released a prequel comic to set up the occult mystery.

The mini-comic introduces us to Ethan Carter‘s seemingly doomed protagonist Paul Prospero, who receives a mysterious piece of mail calling on him to investigate one last case. Watch out, this auto-plays music when it launches.

As for the game itself, here’s its official description:

In The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, you play as Paul Prospero, an occult detective who receives a disturbing letter from Ethan Carter and realizes that the boy is in grave danger. When Paul arrives in Ethan’s home of Red Creek Valley, he realizes things are even worse than he imagined. Ethan has vanished in the wake of a brutal murder, which Paul comes to see might not be the only murder to investigate. Using both regular and supernatural detective skills, Paul must figure out what happened to the missing boy.

    Spoiler: TNA ends his contract.

Cool. I hadn’t heard of this game before, but I love the horror genre and am glad to see another (hopefully) strong game release. Plus Poland is where The Witcher comes from, so maybe we will also discover another top-notch foreign game design studio.
