Looks like all of Akira Toriyama’s time in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber has paid off. For the first time in 18 years, Toei Animation is producing a new Dragon Ball television series, entitled Dragon Ball Super. (Note: that is the Japanese title, which may change for the English release). All we can say is:
The new series will be shepherded by Akira Toriyama, and is set to debut in Japan in July 2015 on Fuji TV. Taking place after Son Goku’s brutal battle with Majin Buu, the new series will serve as a direct sequel to Dragon Ball Z, reuniting classic characters.
In a statment, Fuji Television producer Osamu Nozaki said, âHaving loved Dragon Ball since childhood, it is very exciting to be a part of this project. Mr. Toriyama has developed a plot thatâs not only a dream come true for Dragon Ballâs millions of fans, but one that will foster in a new generation of viewers.â
I was positive that after our Dragon Ball Xenoverse video, we would be getting the call for the new series, but I guess our power levels were just too high…
