There are SPOILERS AHEAD if you didnât catch the first episode of Vixen on CWSeed! If youâre not up to date, watch the episode here and come back!
Within the opening minutes of Vixen, DC fans saw the title character a.k.a. Mari (Megalyn Echikunwoke) outrunning The Flash (Grant Gustin) and avoiding the Arrow (Stephen Amell) with skill. The only thing that Mari couldnât escape was gravity!
The first episode of Vixen also introduced her foster father, Chuck (Neil Flynn) and she told him why she was in jail and what brought her back to Detroit. In a change from the DCU comics, Mari is a fashion design student instead of a supermodel. The episode ended in a cliffhanger as Mari and her foster father were mugged.
In the video preview for Vixenâs second episode (posted above), executive producer Marc Guggenheim notes that the âvery convenient muggingâ is a great place for Mari to discover her powers and show off what she can do. But that mugging is way too âconvenient,â especially since the muggers only wanted the Tantu Totem around her neck, which just so happens to be the source of Vixenâs powers.
Ahead of the second episode, The CW has also posted a video about the design of Vixen, with head designer Phil Bourassa and director James Tucker speaking about their take on the DC heroine. Echikunwoke also shares her thoughts about Vixenâs character.
The next episode of Vixen will be posted on Tuesday, September 1 on CWSeed.
