Handbook for Mortals is envisioned as the first in a YA series of novels that has already drawn some interest from Hollywood. American Pie star Thomas Ian Nicholas is already attached to Handbook for Mortals as a producer and an actor. For a better idea of what the novel is about, here’s the complete description from GeekNation.

“Handbook For Mortals is the first book in an urban fantasy/paranormal romance series that centers around Zade, a free-spirited twenty-something girl who comes from a long dynasty of tarot card readers who practice magick. Zade travels to Las Vegas and unbeknownst to anyone, she uses her supernatural powers to get cast in a premiere magic show led by the infamous magician Charles Spellman.

Behind the scenes of this multimillion dollar production, Zade finds herself caught in a love triangle with Mac, the show’s handsome but rough-around-the-edges technical director, and Jackson, the tall, dark, handsome, charming bandleader. During a hugely complicated illusion, Zade is critically injured and her only hope is a special kind of magick to save her…even that may be too late…”
