First Look At BOOM! Studios’ MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS #0

This week, it’s Morphin Time as Boom! Studios brings Saban’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers back to comics in advance of the upcoming Power Rangers movie. And while the setting appears to have been moved to the present day, the Power Rangers in the comic are the original team: Jason Lee Scott, Kimberly Hart, Zack Taylor, Trini Kwan, and Billy Cranston.

Writer Kyle Higgins and artist Hendry Prasetya’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #0 takes place in the first season of the series, shortly after the Green Ranger, Tommy Oliver, was freed from Rita’s control and invited to join the Power Rangers. But as seen in the first six pages from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #0, Tommy may not be entirely free of Rita’s influence as she unleashes a new monster to destroy Angel Grove and the Power Rangers!

Mairghread Scott and artist Daniel Bayliss’ short Power Rangers story from Comic-Con 2015 will also be included in the issue.

Here’s Boom! Studios’ solicitation copy for the issue:

The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers make their BOOM! Studios comic debut in this kick-off #0 issue that sets the stage for the rest of the series. After escaping Rita Repulsa’s mind control, Tommy Oliver, the Green Ranger, joins up with the rest of the Power Rangers to combat her never-ending evil plans. Any semblance of a normal life is gone for Tommy now, but with his newfound family there lies hope for a brighter path.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #0 will be released in comic stores on Wednesday, January 13.
