First Full AMERICAN HORROR STORY: HOTEL Trailer is Here

We’ve had set photos and teasers galore, but now it’s finally time for the first full American Horror Story: Hotel trailer, which gives us our first glimpse (in motion) of this year’s cast of characters, including such American Horror Story veterans as Angela Bassett, Sara Paulson, Kathy Bates, Lily Rabe, Wes Bentley, Chloe Sevigny, Finn Wittrock, Evan Peters, Madchen Amick, Max Greenfield, Denis O’Hare, and—of course—series newcomer Lady Gaga. She’ll star as the vampiric (but not exactly) woman called the Countess, owner of the Hotel Cortez, homebase for this season’s spooky goings-on.

Judging from the new trailer, expect lots of creepy children wearing British school uniforms, and what looks like lots of homages to Stanley Kubrick, as there’s a bit of A Clockwork Orange aesthetic going on here. Since Kubrick directed The Shining, probably the most famous haunted hotel movie ever made, it makes sense to pay homage to the master.

Other creepiness gleaned from the trailer is someone sewn into a mattress, a fierce looking Angela Bassett pulling a hunky dude along a hallway on a leash who’s wearing shiny gold shorts (Rocky Horror Picture Show reference?) a blender filled with blood, and Lady Gaga rocking an outfit that makes her look like the creepy bride from the attic in Disney’s Haunted Mansion ride, but on acid.

You can watch the full trailer above, and get yourself psyched for this year’s ghoulish (and no doubt somewhat campy) proceedings. American Horror Story: Hotel premieres Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 10 p.m. ET on FX.
