Simon Peggâs geek credentials are pretty damn impressive. Pegg has taken his lifelong love of genre films and TV into his career as an actor/screenwriter with appearances in Doctor Who, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, The Adventures of Tintin, and he co-wrote and co-starred in the romantic comedy/zombie movie hybrid, Shaun of the Dead. He’s currently co-starring in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation.
Pegg is not only appearing in the Star Trek reboot films as Montgomery “Scotty” Scott, heâs also co-writing the third film, Star Trek Beyond. Pegg is also appearing in Star Wars: The Force Awakens in a minor role, making him one of the few actors to appear in both iconic sci-fi franchises. Additionally, Pegg co-created the very geeky British comedy series, Spaced alongside Edgar Wright and Jessica Hynes. Just in the last week, Pegg made another appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon as Drunk Ron Weasley from the Harry Potter novels!
While promoting his third appearance in the Mission: Impossible film franchise as Benji Dunn, Pegg was asked to rank the original six Star Wars films in order of worst-to-best in only a minute. Peggâs response…is probably not going to be that controversial among his fellow geeks. The only slightly unusual choice is that Pegg favors The Phantom Menace over Attack of the Clones. He also offered his concise opinion about the entire Star Wars prequel trilogy. [Editor’s Note: I agree heartily with his assessment on those two.]
âI hate the prequels,â deadpanned Pegg before erupting with laughter.
