DCâs Legends of Tomorrow has cast a new ally for Rip Hunter’s time traveling team of heroes and villains. Her name is Rachel Turner, and sheâll be played by Firefly and Stargate Atlantis fan-favorite, Jewel Staite!
Staite is scheduled to appear in the tenth episode of Legends of Tomorrow, and her character, Rachel is said to be descended from a long line of inventors, including someone from the DC Universe. Considering that Rip Hunter’s team features two resident geniusesâRay Palmer (Brandon Routh) and Martin Stein (Victor Garber)âthereâs a good chance that Rachel may be related to one of them. But if not, there is no shortage of scientific minds to draw from in the DCU. Potentially, the creative team could also make Rachel the descendant of someone who hasnât previously appeared in The CWâs DC TV shows.
Rachelâs home is a future that is even more technologically driven than our modern era. She is reportedly a brilliant roboticist whose work is in danger of falling into the hands of Vandal Savage (Casper Crump), an immortal villain whose destiny is to conquer the world. Rachel will join with Hunterâs team in an attempt to stop Savageâs ambitions.
While Firefly and Stargate Atlantis remain Staiteâs most popular shows, she has also appeared in Space Cases, Flash Forward, The L.A. Complex, and The Killing. In a nod to Doctor Who, Staite appeared as a young woman named Amy Pond during an episode of Supernatural in its seventh season.
Who do you think Staiteâs Rachel Turner will be related to on Legends of Tomorrow? Share your theories below!
