FINAL FANTASY XIII’s Lightning to Model for Louis Vuitton’s Online Campaign

It’s happening again. Another random and interesting fashion-meets-gaming combination, specifically with Final Fantasy and a very famous brand. A new campaign from the world renowned French fashion house, Louis Vuitton, features Lightning as the new model for their online campaign titled “Series 4,” which has her decked out in some pretty fancy clothes and holding some very expensive purses.

A previous campaign for another fashion house, Prada, had more members of the FFXIII saga in a few hilariously fabulous outfits. This is Lightning’s first brush with fashion stardom on her own, though, as she becomes the sole spokesmodel for a new digital realm of fashion creativity. And Luis Vuitton isn’t just another fashion craze; this dominating house was founded 161 years ago and still remains one of the top 5 fashion labels across the globe. The brand helped bridge functional retail clothing with chic luxury goods–for those who can afford it, that is.

Creative Director for Louis Vuitton, Nicolas Ghesquière, has been posting images on Twitter and says this about the collaboration with Square Enix’s gorgeous heroine and franchise: “I was thinking about this digital frontier, which I wanted to combine in harmony with the world of Louis Vuitton – the craft, the wardrobe. It’s an evocation of cyber, of what comes from digital – these characters or girls that are speaking to their generation.”

And that’s something that the Final Fantasy series and high fashion definitely have in common. A massive following ripe with youthful spunk and glam is never too far from either medium. Watch the short campaign video below showing Lightning in her new Vuitton get-up, fiercely slashing and hacking away like a runway model possessed. (At least Yoshitaka Suzuki’s beautiful melody still sounds wonderful.)

Is this a fashion disaster or does this combination of FFXIII and Louis Vuitton work for you? Let us know below!
