Fight Conformity with the New Trailer for DIVERGENT

In a futuristic world where young people are put through a harrowing test that decides which faction they belong to based on their personalities, a girl named Tris Prior (Shailene Woodley) finds out that she is a “Divergent,” someone who doesn’t fit into a category, and that threatens the very fiber of this very regimented society. She teams up with a group of rebels (who put her through other rigorous tests, a theme), and they aim to take on the system and break away from the conformity of everyday life.

Divergent is based on the Veronica Roth Young Adult novel and is directed by Neil Burger, who also directed Limitless and The Illusionist. It’s sort of got a Gattaca or THX 1138 vibe going on. Kate Winslet, Ashley Judd, Maggie Q, Miles Teller, and Theo James (who, believe it or not, isn’t related to James Franco) co-star in the movie, which comes out March 21, 2014. We’ve seen an earlier “first look” trailer for it — see that one here — and previously brought you Perry’s coverage of the panel for the movie at Comic-Con San Diego, which you can find here.

What do we think? Look interesting? Remind you of any other dystopian future movies? Which one of those is your favorite? Let’s hear about it in the comments below!

This looks like a CW show that somehow made it to film. The actress seems like a female version of Channing Tatum- which is to say brain dead, and not knowing what she’s doing. This just looks very amateur and only appealing to 12 year olds and stupid people in their 20s who don’t know any better. Why does this CW/Twilight level of quality keep perpetuating? People deserve more than this, teens, pre-teens deserve more than this. They are the future- give them good art to be inspired from for fuck sake!
