Feast Your Eyes on OUTLANDER Season 2 Key Art

When Outlander returns to Starz on April 9 for season two, it’s a different world. Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) have left the sweeping vistas and tartan fabrics of the Scottish highlands behind in order to travel to France–and not just anywhere in France either. They’re going to Paris. They’re taking it upon themselves to infiltrate 18th century Parisian society in hopes of changing history itself. You know, just a minor goal on the to-do list. New key art for the upcoming season emphasizes the new and luxurious setting as Jamie and Claire sit in the middle of an elegant dinner.

Wool cloth is out, silks are in. Even Murtagh (Duncan Lacroix) is cleaned up and polished. I don’t see a spot of dirt on his face.

This image of decadence stands in stark contrast to the key art from season one and is a visual slap in the face of sorts to tell you how the landscape has changed. Besides Murtagh, Jamie and Claire are flanked by Mary Hawkins (Rosie Day), King Louis XV (Lionel Lingelser), Louise de Rohan (Claire Sermonne), Le Comte St Germain (Stanley Weber), and Prince Charles Stuart (Andrew Gower)

Jamie and Claire are going to attempt to cozy up to Prince Charles Stuart and end the Jacobite rebellion. By doing so, they’ll stop the battle of Culloden–a skirmish that results in the deaths of many Scotsman. To get in the good graces of Bonnie Prince Charlie, the couple will have to play the political game. It’s a more subtle sort of war and one that involves a tremendous amount of fancy and probably uncomfortable clothing.

What are you most looking forward to about the new France setting in Outlander? Talk to me in the comments.
