Chronologically, Temple of Doom was a prequel. Temple of Doom takes place in 1935 and Raiders is in 1936, one year later. The Last Crusade is set in 1938.
The Last Crusade IS the best. It’s an action-comedy that doesn’t have to slap its dick in your face.
