A FAST & FURIOUS Animated Series is Coming to Netflix

It doesn’t matter if you win by an inch or a mile; winning is winning. A wise man said that once. That needs to be amended to “it doesn’t matter if you win in live-action or animation,” because now the world’s most engine-revving familia are coming to the small screen, in animated form. Netflix is shoring up its relationships with both DreamWorks Animation Television and Universal Pictures by announcing to the world a Fast & Furious animated series, heading to the streaming service giant in the near future, .

The show will follow the adventures of Tony Toretto, the teenage cousin of Vin Diesel‘s Dom (it’s about family), who is recruited along with his friends into a secret government agency (sure) to “infiltrate an elite racing league serving as a front for a nefarious crime organization bent on world domination.” Teens, cars, covert ops, and Bond-level villainy? This sounds like it could be the coolest animated series in recent memory.

Tim Hedrick (Voltron: Legendary Defender) and Bret Haaland (All Hail King Julien) will serve as executive producers and showrunners. The series is also executive produced by Vin Diesel, Neal Moritz and Chris Morgan who also serve as producers on the live-action Fast & Furious franchise. DreamWorks Animation has been making some of the best animated series available over the past few years, and if Voltron‘s head writer is showrunning, you can expect some top-notch action and scenarios.

So far, the partnership between Netflix and DreamWorks Animation Television has been a particularly fruitful one, producing 14 original series in the past 5 years, including Trollhunters from Guillermo del Toro, Spirit Riding Free and All Hail King Julien, with an additional four series slated to debut on Netflix in 2018.

No release date yet for Fast & Furious, but you can find out more information on Netflix’s page for it.
