Sorry porgs, your run atop the cutest new fictional animals rankings is officially over. The Crimes of Grindelwald is taking the most lovable creature from the first Fantastic Beasts movie and casting a magical spell to dramatically increase its adorableness. Only it’s doing so by making smaller versions of them, by introducing to Muggles and wizards alike little baby nifflers. Baby nifflers!
And they are even more amazing than they sound.
are there going to be baby nifflers in fantastic beasts????? I AM SOBBING pic.twitter.com/sGjWo958Fd

Merlin’s beard, those are some incredible magical creatures, and they are even cuter than we thought they would be when Eddie Redmayne announced at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con they would be in the movie. Despite being different colors, all four are the offspring of the niffler that stole the first film.
So are baby nifflers born as valuable-stealing beasts, or do they learn from their mother? We’re not sure yet, but this week Entertainment Weekly had the first look at them in the movie, and it doesn’t look like the thieving apple falls far from the niffler tree.
The Crimes of Grindelwald looks like a much darker film than the first one (which had some very dark scenes itself), but if anyone was worried the movie wouldn’t be embracing its Fantastic Beasts side this should put those concerns to rest. Because nothing is brighter than a baby niffler stealing a gold coin, not even a porg on Canto Bight.
