Eddie Redmayne stars as animal-loving wizard Newt Scamander, who causes accidental mayhem in Manhattan when some of his fantastic beasts escape the confines of his magical Mary Poppins-like suitcase. Helping Scamander track them down are charming enchantress Queenie Goldstein (Alison Sudol), bumbling muggle–or nomaj in the American vernacular–Jacob Kowalski (Dan Fogler), and ornery auror Percival Graves (Colin Farrell).

We had the esteemed pleasure to sit down with these Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them co-stars, along with David Heyman, who produced this spectacular spinoff as well as all the Harry Potter films. With Heyman, we got into the nitty-gritty of creating the incredible creatures at the heart of Fantastic Beasts.

When speaking with the cast, we explored not only the excitement and anxieties of originating new characters within this well-known wizarding world, but also what it was like shooting scenes with magical monsters who aren’t really there. And lastly we spoke spoiler-free about how Farrell learned to let go, and appreciate the art of wielding his wand.
