FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM’s Newt Scamander Gets a Funko Pop! Figure

It doesn’t require a degree from Hogwarts or Ilvermorny to realize that the author of one of the most famous literary works in the wizarding world would eventually get his own Funko Pop! figure, especially when he is the star of the new Harry Potter prequel, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, set to open later this year. Now we can set out to capture the famous magical creature cataloguer ourselves, or at least a mini-version of him.

Entertainment Weekly has the first look at the new Newt Scamander Pop! figure, set to be initially released at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, before being sold at Barnes and Noble stores around the country. Played by Eddie Redmayne in the film, Scamander’s tiny version is outfitted with his stylish blue coat, wand, house Hufflepuff scarf, and, of course, his very roomy briefcase for storing (and as the trailers for the movie show, losing) the magical creatures that were his life’s work.

Plus he has that great head of hair, which still has amazing flow even in plastic form.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is an adaption of J.K. Rowling‘s book of the same name. That book, “written” by Scamander, is a companion piece to the main novels, and is referenced in the Harry Potter series as a text book used by Hogwarts students. While the book-within-a-book is just a magical creature encyclopedia, the film (Rowling’s first screenplay) is set in New York City in the 1920s, and follows Scamander as he deals with a very different wizarding world in America than the one he knows, all while he tries to recapture his escaped creatures.

If you do manage to snag one of these new Pop! figures of him, make sure to lock the briefcase. Just to be safe.
