FALLOUT Fan Builds Working “Shishkebab”

Building real-world versions of video game and movie items is quite the lucrative business these days, and the folks at the Make: YouTube channel know it. While they aren’t strictly a fantasy weapon/armor crafter like the Men at Arms crew, the guys and gals from Make: offer a lot of amazing projects for their viewers to check out. One of their more popular members, Caleb Kraft, posted a video on the channel this week detailing his build of the Shishkebab, a fan-favorite weapon from the Fallout series.

Based off of the Fallout 4 concept art that was floating around recently, Caleb and his friend Ryan Fitzpatrick (Platinumfungi) crafted a working replica of the flaming sword. Caleb built the sword with a katana as the basis, just like in Fallout 4. He then attached a motorcycle handbrake, a butane canister, and a series of copper piping to the sword. By rigging the handbrake to the harness for the butane, as well as a grill ignitor near the blade, Caleb was able to make a sword that he could actually light on fire while swinging. Yeah, I think he earned that manic grin plastered on his face.

Caleb is no stranger to adding fire to things that don’t necessarily need fire added to them, as one of his most popular builds was a ukulele that shot fire out of the top in honor of The Doof Warrior from Mad Max: Fury Road. Our good friend Donnie told you about that a little while back. I have to say, though, as much as the flaming ukulele is a fun idea, this real-life Shishkebab really takes the cake for coolest prop build yet.
