This FALLOUT 4 Cosplay Is So Good It Might Be a Synth

One of the most delightful parts of Fallout 4 was paling around the apocalyptic wastelands of Massachusetts with Nick Valentine. Seemingly ripped straight from the 1940s, Valentine was a steadfast companion who kept a smile on my face with his film noir sensibilities and his endless stream of compliments anytime I successfully hacked a terminal.

Did the fact that he was a synth ever bother us? No. Well, it didn’t bother me. Maybe you’re weirdly racist against robotic humanoids. That’s on you. But he was my favorite companion by far, and now an enterprising cosplayer has paid tribute to him with a truly incredible costume.

Kudos to Arcanum Order, this is some seriously jaw-dropping Nick Valentine cosplay. With custom contacts, elaborately shaded facepaint, and a trenchcoat-and-fedora ensemble that looks like it hasn’t been changed in 200 years, this cosplayer nailed the look of Diamond City’s resident detective.

Unfortunately, I don’t seem to possess the same detective skills as ol’ Nick Valentine and, try as I might, I could not suss out the name of the cosplayer in the photo. Perhaps it’s Imgur’s sunnydelinquent. Or maybe the Institute replaced the real cosplayer with an actual synth and Fallout 4 was meant to be a hyperrealistic warning system. The mind boggles. At least we’ll have this awesome cosplay to keep us smiling through a nuclear winter of our very own.
